Institut Cochin, one of the largest academic biomedical research centers in France, is under the joint administrative supervision of Inserm, CNRS, and Université Paris Cité. Located in the heart of Paris, on the site of the Cochin-Port-Royal Hospital (AP-HP Centre), Institut Cochin brings together 41 research teams which carry out fundamental and translational research (from bench to bedside) in five major scientific areas: cancer, immunology, endocrinology-metabolism, microbiology, and cellular plasticity and reproduction. Dr. Jacques Dutrieux

I’m a junior scientist at the Institut Cochin heading the group Dynamics of Viral Genomes in Rémi Cheynier’s team.

My work is focused on viral latency, especially on HIV. We are developing original methods to follow viral genomes within the cell (with high throughput sequencing and live imaging…) and particularly the fate of unintegrated HIV DNA. We are also developing new omics approach such as viral genome specific immunoprecipitation or spatial transcriptomics to better understand their partners and their dynamic within the tissues but also to better understand the initiation of intrinsic immune response in situ after infection. We will apply these new technological approaches in the Y4F consortium to study the immune response in the mucosae after infection or vaccination.

Manon Babise (PhD student)

I am a doctoral student at the Institut Cochin since October 2024, under the supervision of Dr Jacques Dutrieux. After completing a master's degree in microbiology and an M2 in virology, during which I worked on HIV accessory proteins, I specialised in the study of virus-host interactions. I continued my thesis in the same laboratory, but on a completely different subject: the deconstruction of the mechanisms of the immune response induced by the yellow fever virus, whether wild or vaccine-derived. I am fortunate to be able to implement new technical approaches within the team, such as spatial transcriptomics and multiplex immunofluorescence. I am involved in the work of the Yellow4Flavi consortium and would like to eventually move into public health research, with a particular interest in emerging and re-emerging diseases.

  • Task 4.2. Identification of YF17D-infected cells, antigen presenting cells and cell-cell communication in human skin explant model
