The Amsterdam Institute for Global Health and Development (AIGHD) is a joint institute of the University of Amsterdam (UvA) and Vrije University (VU). AIGHD acts a platform for researchers to catalyze scientific excellence, interdisciplinary collaboration and policy development, and serves as a hub for education – at bachelor’s, master's and PhD level – within and across faculties at the UvA and VU. The institute offers support facilities aimed at integrated management of research and education projects within low- and middle-income countries focused on global health and development. Within Yellow4Flavi, AIGHD supports qualitative research in Germany and Columbia, which will be used to develop approaches to risk communication that is is better adapted to the public’s information needs and concerns regarding vaccines. Together with Yellow4Flavi partners, Dr. Christopher Pell conducts comparative analysis of the underpinnings of vaccine acceptance and uptake in the two countries, with a particular focus on the role of vaccine technologies.
